Clare Fearon

Outreach Officer

I graduated from Newcastle University in 2015 with a BSc in Biology and Psychology. As an Outreach Officer, I manage the Street Science team, run workshops in schools and organise events on campus. I’m keen to promote the exciting world of STEM and the opportunities it can offer to young people. I’m particularly interested in engaging more girls in STEM as they’re currently under-represented in the field.

Dr Peter Hoare

I studied BSc and PhD degrees in Chemistry at Durham University, followed by a PGCE in Chemistry & PE at Newcastle University. I enjoyed a 20-year stint teaching at Ponteland Community High School in Northumberland followed by 9 years as the Chemistry Outreach Officer at the University. I now work as an Outreach Officer, developing and delivering STEM activities and post-16 learning & teaching resources for schools, including chemistry, to a wide range of audiences.

Naomi Nelson

Outreach Ambassador

I graduated from Newcastle University in BSc Biology (2021) and MSc Wildlife Management (2022). Within my time as a student, I became interested in outreach, widening participation and raising aspirations, through my work with primary school aged students with the STEM Outreach Street Science team. As an Outreach Ambassador, I am able to explore these interests further, working with secondary school students to realise their potential in the wonderful world of STEM.

Jade Mac Gregor

Outreach Ambassador

I studied Earth Science at Newcastle University and graduated in July of 2022. At my time at university I found that I have a passion for welfare and making the world more accessible, which lead me to my current position as an Outreach Ambassador. I now visit schools up and down the country to try to inspire the next generation to think about how they can get involved in STEM through interactive and accessible workshops.

I lead the Undergraduate student recruitment and outreach activity for the Faculty of Medical Sciences.

I have worked at the university for 8 years and have a passion for encouraging students from underrepresented backgrounds into Medical Sciences career routes.

I graduated from Newcastle University in 2017 with a BA in History. As an Outreach Coordinator, I help run a range of on-campus events and deliver a variety of workshops to young people from diverse backgrounds. I am particularly interested in giving young people exciting opportunities that they may not experience otherwise, in order to help them make a more informed decision regarding their future.
