Outreach and Engagement Manager
I lead the STEM Outreach Team at Newcastle University. As a Forensic Science graduate and qualified teacher who has worked in a range of STEM, heritage and arts management roles, I have experience of working with a large variety of young people. I have a passion for creating meaningful opportunities which can have a great impact on people’s lives, decision making and futures.
I graduated from Newcastle University in 2015 with a BSc in Biology and Psychology. As an Outreach Officer, I manage the Street Science team, run workshops in schools and organise events on campus. I’m keen to promote the exciting world of STEM and the opportunities it can offer to young people. I’m particularly interested in engaging more girls in STEM as they’re currently under-represented in the field.
Dr Peter Hoare
I studied BSc and PhD degrees in Chemistry at Durham University, followed by a PGCE in Chemistry & PE at Newcastle University. I enjoyed a 20-year stint teaching at Ponteland Community High School in Northumberland followed by 9 years as the Chemistry Outreach Officer at the University. I now work as an Outreach Officer, developing and delivering STEM activities and post-16 learning & teaching resources for schools, including chemistry, to a wide range of audiences.
Geospatial Outreach Officer
After studying BSc Geography at Newcastle University, I worked as a Land and Building Surveyor before returning to work for the Geospatial Engineering department at Newcastle University. My current role involves creating a new website to host a variety of GIS resources and information about the various exciting careers in Geospatial Engineering, as well as promoting awareness of Geospatial Engineering in schools.
Student Recruitment Manager
I lead the Undergraduate student recruitment and outreach activity for the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
I have worked at the university for 8 years and have a passion for encouraging students from underrepresented backgrounds into Medical Sciences career routes.
I graduated from Newcastle University in 2017 with a BA in History. As an Outreach Coordinator, I help run a range of on-campus events and deliver a variety of workshops to young people from diverse backgrounds. I am particularly interested in giving young people exciting opportunities that they may not experience otherwise, in order to help them make a more informed decision regarding their future.
